Reidbury's Kitchen

Food thoughts, recipes and billowing smoke from a home cook's kitchen in London

Another food blog? Well, no.

What the internet needs is yet another food blog, right?! Thankfully I’m not aiming to be a food blog – I’m just using a blog format to remind myself what I’ve cooked, where I’ve eaten and what I’ve yet to try.

The reason I decided to set this up came from me spending an hour earlier today desperately trying to find a recipe I made last month. I realised that I don’t have any way of tracking what I’ve cooked at home, or where I’ve eaten out in London, and I thought a blog would be a good way of remembering. So this is for purely selfish reasons!

But in case you’ve stumbled across this, it’s probably fair to explain a bit about me. I’m a 29 year old living in the East End of London with my boyfriend. My list of hobbies generally seem to revolve around food and drink – cooking at home, eating out, reading about food/recipes in general and, of course, enjoying a drink or two along the way!

I moved from Bolton to London over 7 years ago now, and it took me a long time to get used to it.  But one of the best things about the capital is just how well you can eat on any budget. Yes, drinks here are expensive, but the quality of food available – from a market stall all the way up to a Michelin starred restaurant – is outstanding and offers great value for money. Thankfully I have a boyfriend who is just as interested in food as I am (well, more the eating than the cooking side of things!) so we get to try some great places together.

So hopefully I’ll update this blog weekly and, at the very least, find it easier to remember which recipes I’ve cooked and when!
